With its move to New Line Cinema, the Friday the 13th\u00a0<\/em>franchise has dropped the “Friday the 13th” from the title. That seems entirely appropriate given that\u00a0Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday<\/em> barely feels like a\u00a0Friday the 13th\u00a0<\/em>movie at all. Instead, this is a movie about magic\u00a0and body swapping that invents all sorts of new things about the character they call Jason Voorhees despite the fact that Jason is barely in the movie at all.<\/p>\n

Does this new spin on the character work either as a continuation of the series (which was already getting increasingly bizarre) or as a standalone movie with\u00a0few connections to previous films?
