Amazon Video has recently announced that they’ll be adding some new horror\u00a0to their on-demand lineup in 2017\u00a0with the anthology series Lore<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Lore<\/em>\u00a0will be\u00a0based on the\u00a0podcast of the same name which explores the dark side of humanity by presenting\u00a0real-life stories of horror.\u00a0I wasn’t familiar with\u00a0Lore\u00a0<\/em>before Amazon’s\u00a0announcement, but I’ve since been listening to the podcast and I quite enjoy it. It feels a little like a documentary at times, but the stories are\u00a0told in a way that’s very engaging. As stated on\u00a0Lore<\/em>‘s web site, it’s akin to a “campfire experience.”\u00a0I’ll be interested to see how well this translates into a TV show, especially since they could go a few different directions with the presentation.<\/p>\n

The Amazon series will be produced by Gale Anne Hurd (producer of AMC’s\u00a0The Walking Dead<\/em> among other great shows and movies) and will have Glen Morgan\u00a0as the series showrunner. Glen Morgan was a producer on The X-Files<\/em> series and also wrote some of my favorite episodes including “Home,” “Squeeze,” and “Ice.” With these two names attached, I’m very optimistic\u00a0that\u00a0Lore\u00a0<\/em>will turn out to be something good. And looking at Amazon Video’s fairly sparse selection of horror TV shows, some good horror will be a very welcome addition.<\/p>\n
